Why is my account balance wrong?

Three common causes. Each is a one-edit fix.

If an account balance in Extrack does not match your bank, the cause is almost always one of three: the opening balance was wrong, you forgot to log a transaction, or you logged with the wrong kind (Expense instead of Transfer is the classic). Each is a one-edit fix.

Fix 1 — opening balance

If everything is off by the same amount, the opening balance is wrong. Edit the account, change the opening-balance field (label varies by type — "Starting balance" / "Credit limit" / "Principal owed (opening)" / "Principal lent (opening)") to match what the bank actually showed the day you added the account.

Fix 2 — missed transactions

Open Transactions, switch the View chip to All (or filter by the account on its activity page), scroll back to where the divergence started. The missing row is usually recent — a forgotten cash withdrawal, a UPI, a credit-card auto-debit. Add it.

Fix 3 — wrong kind

Most common: recording a credit-card payment as an Expense instead of a Transfer. The card balance does not drop; the bank balance does. Edit the row, switch kind to Transfer, pick the card as the "Paid to" account. Balances reconcile.

Frequently asked

Credit card balance too high — bank shows zero.

You probably logged purchases as Expenses but forgot to log the bill payment as a Transfer. Add the Transfer from your bank to the card.

Cash account shows wrong amount.

Usually unrecorded cash spends, or an ATM withdrawal logged as Expense instead of Transfer (bank → cash).
