On this page

To edit a transaction in Extrack, open the Transactions page, find the row, and tap its pencil (Edit) action. The same New transaction modal opens in edit mode — title becomes "Edit transaction", the Save button reads "Save" instead of "Create". Change any field — amount, accounts, kind, date, categories, people, split shares — and save. Account balances and per-person receivables rebalance automatically.

Steps

  1. Find the row

Open Transactions. Use a preset chip (Today / This month / Income / Expense / Transfers) or the advanced filter to narrow the list.

  2. Tap the pencil (Edit) action on the row

On mobile cards, the action grid below the row carries Edit (pencil), Duplicate (copy), Convert to recurring (when shown) and Delete (trash) buttons. Tap the pencil.

  3. Change fields in the Edit transaction modal

Modal title now reads "Edit transaction". Every field is editable, including the kind (Expense / Income / Transfer). Split shares can be tweaked in the Adjust split tab.

  4. Tap Save

The Create button is replaced with Save. Balances, receivables and Reports rebalance immediately.

Frequently asked

Can I change the kind (e.g. Expense → Transfer)?

Yes. Change the kind in the modal, fill in any kind-specific fields (the Transfer kind requires both legs) and save. Extrack rewrites the underlying allocations.

I edited a split — what happens to the receivables?

They rebalance automatically. Add a person and their receivable opens; remove a person and theirs closes. Adjust a share and their balance moves by the delta.

Can I duplicate a transaction instead of editing?

Yes — tap the Duplicate (copy) action next to Edit. A new draft opens with the same values; change the date and save to create a duplicate row.

Can I convert a transaction into a recurring template?

When the row qualifies, a Convert to recurring action shows next to Edit. Tap to open the Recurring template form prefilled with the row's values.
