What "Over cap" means

Cap exceeded. Pill turns rose; card shows "Over by ₹X". Nothing blocks.

When a budget cap in Extrack flips to the "Over cap" pill (rose), your current spend has exceeded the cap. The card shows "Over by ₹X" in rose. Extrack does not block further transactions — caps are signals, not guardrails. The three pills are "On track" (emerald), "Approaching cap" (amber) and "Over cap" (rose).

How to react

Two common moves: raise the cap (if it was unrealistic — base it on last 2–3 months of real spend), or change behaviour for the rest of the month. Avoid the third move — ignoring an over-cap month after month makes the cap meaningless.

Frequently asked

Does going over affect anything else?

No. It is a visual flag — transactions still post, the dashboard still shows balances. Reports highlights months where you went over.

I am over because of one large transaction.

Sanity-check whether the transaction belongs in this category. A one-off big purchase in the wrong category skews the rollup.
