Convert a transaction to a recurring template

Tap the repeat-icon action next to Edit. Recurring form opens prefilled.

Last updated: 2026-05-242 min read

On this page

When a posted transaction qualifies, the Transactions row exposes a "Convert to recurring template" action (a repeat icon next to Edit). Tap it — the New recurring form opens prefilled with the transaction's amount, accounts, category, people and a default frequency. Pick the frequency (Daily / Weekly / Every 2 weeks / Monthly / Quarterly / Yearly) and save.

Steps

  1. Find the row on Transactions

The row action grid shows Edit (pencil), Duplicate (copy), Convert to recurring (repeat icon, when shown) and Delete (trash).

  2. Tap "Convert to recurring template"

The Recurring form opens with the row's values prefilled.

  3. Pick a frequency and save

Save creates the template. The original transaction stays as-is on the ledger.

Frequently asked

Why does the action not show on every row?

It only shows when the row qualifies — splits, lent receivables and certain edge cases are not convertible.

Does converting move the original transaction?

No. The original stays on the ledger; a new recurring template is created with the same values. Future occurrences post separately when you approve.
