On this page

To set a per-category cap in Extrack, open the Budgets page, scroll to the "Uncapped categories" section, find the category and tap its "Set cap" button. Save the amount. The row moves to the "Capped categories" section above with a status pill — "On track", "Approaching cap" or "Over cap" — based on current month spend.

Steps

  1. Open Budgets and scroll to Uncapped categories

Every category you have spent in this month that lacks a cap appears here.

  2. Tap "Set cap" on the category

A modal opens with one Amount field.

  3. Save

Row moves to the Capped categories section above. Status pill is computed against this month's spend.

Frequently asked

Can I cap "Unknown"?

No — server-side validation rejects it. The Unknown system category is protected because capping uncategorised spend is not actionable.

Why is my category not in the Uncapped list?

Either it already has a cap (look in Capped categories above), or there is no spend in it this month so it does not surface.
