Categories
Categories drive Budgets and Reports. This section covers creating and editing them, the protected "Unknown" bucket, month/year rollups, the inline-create flow from a transaction, and naming patterns that work long-term.

Tap "New category" on the page, or type a new name in the Categories field on a transaction.

Delete from the row action or bulk-select. Tagged rows fall back to Unknown.
The "Unknown" system category
Safety net for uncategorised rows. Cannot be renamed, deleted or capped.
Category rollups — month vs year
Pick a Rollup month or Year. Cards show This month / Last month / Total.
Create a category inline from a transaction
Type a new name → picker offers "Create category…" → quick-create form.
